Walmsley's Mustang madness started in about 1970 when Lee's parents bought a 1967 Mustang Coupe from Black Diamond Auto Wrecking in Washington for $1,050 (Mustangs were practically given away back then). Lee can recall standing up in the back seat with headroom to spare! Lee's family drove this car until 1982, at which time it suffered mechanical problems. It remained parked until 1988.
In 1988, Lee needed a car to drive and had already saved up $1,300. He found a car for $900, although it was a Fiat. Lee's dad's response to this was "No Way"! Instead, he offered his 1967 Mustang Coupe under the condition that Lee restore the motor to working condition. At the time, Lee didn't have much mechanical experience. He asked his uncle to help troubleshoot and after about one month, the Mustang was running. Lee was hooked! He then began to learn how to do body work.
 Lee's second car was a 1965 Fastback and third car that soon followed was a 1967 Fastback. Lee began seriously collecting when he was 18 years old. At the time when Lee met Rhonda in 1993, he had accumulated 9 Mustangs and a lot of parts. Much to the surprise of Lee's friends and co-workers, despite marrying Rhonda in 1994, he still kept his collection! In fact, his collection expanded and doubled in volume! Rhonda just figured that she had married the biggest packrat of them all and vowed to check Lee into an insane asylum for compulsive collecting!
In the mid 1990's, Lee continued to "hoard" any Mustang and Mustang part he could get his hands on. He found many Mustangs and parts from surrounding states, but mostly from right here in Washington. Some of his cars are rust-free and some are in rather bad shape. But, as Lee puts it, "the worst Fastback is still deserving of a quality restoration".
Now, 18 years later, Lee's collection has expanded to owning 28 Mustang Fastbacks (1965-1968), 7 Mustang Convertibles (1965-1968) and over 100,000 car parts. Throughout the past 18 years, Lee has owned over 120 Mustangs. While it is not as easy to find Mustangs any more, his enthusiasm for them remains the same.
Rhonda soon realized she was fighting an uphill battle with Lee's Mustang obsession and in August, 2005 figured, "well, if you can't beat 'em...join 'em"! She and Lee paired up, started FastbackStack, and began to sell Mustang parts on eBay. While she still thinks Lee's collection is insane, she has a newfound appreciation for the Classic Mustang.
Lee has fully restored six Mustangs and has completed numerous Mustang repairs such as headliner and upholstery installation, body work and body panel replacement, windshield and glass installation and disc brake conversions, to name a few.
